Food High In Iron

Foods high in iron

Iron deficiency is the most common form of nutritional deficiency for expecting mothers. Iron deficiency anemia can cause premature delivery and other complication to both pregnant mother and baby.

Rich sources of iron:

  • Red Meat
  • Raisins
  • Leafy Green Vegetables
  • Spinach

Take iron with orange juice!
It is often recommended for individuals who have iron deficiency (anemia) to take their iron supplements with orange juice. This is because the vitamin C in the orange juice aids in iron absorption.

Don’t take iron with milk!
If you take a multivitamin containing iron (or iron supplement) and you take a calcium supplement, it’s a good idea to take them at different times. Calcium can block the absorption of iron.
